First edition first print hardback of MARTIN MAGNUS, PLANET ROVER by William F. Temple and published by Frederick Muller Ltd in 1954.
The book is in very good condition (green cloth boards with green lettering to spine) with light creasing to the bottom edge and colour fading to the top and bottom edges of the spine and age tanning to the pages and page edges, with more pronounced tanning to the endpapers. The book is in a good unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing and rubbing to the edges, some small areas of loss to the head and tail of the spine and top corners of both covers, age tanning to the back cover and foxing inside. Internally the pages are otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears or inscriptions.
In this book, the author introduces a new hero of science-fiction, Martin Magnus, a Space Investigator who plays a commando's role, often alone in enemy territory. Investigators are expected to be supermen but the best of them - and that is Magnus - is yet only a man. He is difficult, prickly, but infinitely resourceful.
The story of Martin Magnus, Planet Rover, begins with a mystery which in turn leads to mystery within mystery, adventure upon adventure, and roves between Earth, Moon and Venus. It keeps the reader guessing and tense till the end.
