First edition first print hardback of THE YEAR 1919 ILLUSTRATED (A Record of Notable Achievements and Events) by various authors and published by The Swarthmore Press Ltd in 1919 or 1920.The book is in good condition (cloth boards) with age related staining and some light rubbing to edges and corners. Boards very slightly bowed. No dust jacket as issued. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or inscriptions.
The events of the present year surpass in importance those of any other year in living memory. When we commenced this series of volumes in 1909, the extraordinary happenings of that year suggested the title "The Wonderful Year". It was wonderful in many ways, but 1919 is still more wonderful. Just consider what has happened during the period covered by the present volume, November, 1918, to October, 1919.
