"Trevor McDonald, popular newscaster and also Chairman of the Campaign for Better Use of the English Language has now compiled an anthology of his favourite poetry from across the ages. This collection of his best-loved poems is based on material published in his regular Anthology column in the Daily Telegraph.
Favourite Poems is a comprehensive introduction to the poetry of the English language, from Milton to Ted Hughes, from Britain and abroad. He has included both perennial favourites and less familiar but accessible poetry. Love poems, pastoral poems, narrative and inspirational poems all appear in this varied collection.
Each poet is introduced with a concise history of their work and there is something to suit all tastes and moods.
Illustrated throughout with woodcuts, this volume should be a pleasure to own for any lover of poetry or anyone new to this material."
