Timothy Francis Sheil THE SIAM QUESTION First Edition Signed

First edition, first print hardback of THE SIAM QUESTION: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery by Timothy Francis Sheil and published by Camden House Publishing Limited, London, in 1999. Signed by Sheil on the title page.

The book is in very good condition (clean dark blue faux-leather boards and large gilt decoration on the front and gilt lettering on the spine) with some light wear to the dust jacket, which is not price clipped (light creasing and slight rubbing to spine edges, corners and some markings and a scratch at the back). There is a previous owner's gift inscription at the top corner of the half title page and a few very small yellow stains on the title page and opposite page. Otherwise, internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears.

The Siam Question is a Sherlock Holmes novel covering Holmes's activities after his apparent death at Reichenbach Falls to his re-appearance in London. A hardback collectors edition. All the favourite Sherlockian characters are brought back to life in a series of new adventures.

The Siam Question was first conceived in 1983 and developed over a period of fifteen years. Two years of research, writing and production has seen the realisation of the first part of the concept. The book combines the author's interests in Sherlockian scholarship, historical research and the genre of 'crime and mystery' writing.

The Siam Question is followed by a sequel, The Egypt Question, and together they provide a more complete account of Sherlock Holmes's exploits and adventures during those years now known as the Great Hiatus.

"In 1891 all London mourned the tragic death of the great consulting detective Sherlock Holmes. But, as is so often the case, things were not - quite - as they seemed to the general public!

Doctor Watson's account of the three missing years was far from complete! The full record of Holmes's exploits on behalf of the British government was classified F.O.C.P. and sealed for one hundred years...

Now, with the publication of the official report - as commissioned by Mycroft Holmes on behalf of the Foreign Office, and written up by Doctor Watson, using as his source the journals of Holmes's chosen compagnon de voyage - at last the entire story can be told, in...'The Holmes Report.'"
