"Anglers find all big fish exciting, but big carp in particular have an aura and mystery all their own. As a popular pursuit carp fishing has comparatively recent origins, but the sport has seen a steady growth in popularity since Dick Walker landed his historic common carp of forty-four pounds at Redmire in 1952. For well over twenty years after his capture the forty pound barrier continued to represent the carp man's impossible dream, and even the thirty pound barrier - although more attainable - was still beyond the aspirations of most.
However, times are changing: the carp fishing ranks are swelling, the number of carp waters are on the increase, and while the forty pound barrier has still been broken by only a small number of carp anglers, it is now a realistic target, and carp of thirty pounds are well within the reach of anyone willing to expend the necessary time and effort in their pursuit.
For the purposes of this book author Tim Paisley has set the big carp lower limit at twenty-five pounds, and he explains his reasons for arriving at this arbitrary figure. In Big Carp, Tim brings all his knowledge and many years of experience to bear in an in-depth study of baits, presentation and session fishing. Other aspects of big carp - and fishing for them - are considered by the incomparable line-up contributors: Rod Hutchinson and Kevin Clifford on what makes carp big; Elliott Symak on stalking; Jan Wenckza on the great fish of Burton; Chris Ball on the Leney Legacy; Pete Springate on big water carp; Brian Garner on session fishing; Chris Yates on the sixth sense, and Julian Cundiff on big carp waters, help make this the most comprehensive guide to big carp fishing yet to be published.
Superbly illustrated in colour and black and white, this is a major addition to the growing number of publications about carp. A compulsive read and a must for all carp anglers with big-fish aspirations."
