The Van By Roddy Doyle

First edition, second print hardback of The Van by Roddy Doyle and published by Secker & Warburg in 1991 with this second print published in the same year. The book is in goodcondition with only minor wear to the dust jacket (some scuffing to thetop corners and some rubbing/creasing around the spine area - but thiswear is really of a minor nature). Some light water staining in a smallarea inside the dust jacket - scarecely noticeable on the outside. Allof the pages are clean and tight. There are no tears and noinscriptions. The pages have begun to brown very slightly at the edges.Book also leans ever so slightly but has no trouble standing on itsown.

Doyle's subject iseveryday life in Barrytown, north Dublin, and in particular thetriumphs and tragedies of the Rabbitte family.

This is a tender taleof male friendship, swimming in grease and stained with ketchup. Itreveals yet again Doyle's astonishing talent for turning the humdruminto high comedy.
