THE OLYMPIC GAMES 1984 Guide and History
UK first edition, first print hardback of THE OLYMPIC GAMES 1984. Edited by Lord Killanin & John Rodda and published by Willow Books, Collins, London in 1983. The book is in finecondition. The dust jacket which is not price clipped is in very good condition with only minor shelf wear (minor creasing to the edges). Internally, the pages are clean and tight. There are no tears and no inscriptions. There are a few small slight yellowish spots inside the front cover board but nothing drastic.
This is an updated edition of the highly successful guide and history first published in 1976 and subsequently revised in time for the 1980 Games.
New chapters on the Moscow Games, the boycott and the Congresses have been added by John Rodda, and John Samuel has written a section about the Winter Olympics at Lake Placid. These, with accounts of the other twenty-one Olympiads since 1896, make fascinating reading, reflecting the great changes which occurred over the years and the athletic achievements of past Games.
The Who's Who of competitors (and other important figures in the Olympic Movement) has been increased and makes it easy to identify faces and assess competitors' Olympic records at a glance.
