First UK edition, first print original paperback of SPIN CYCLE, by Zoe Strachan and published by Picador, London, in 2004. Flat signed by Strachan on the title page (see picture below). 

The book is in very good condition (A paperback original in very good wraps.) with maybe only minor shelf wear to the wrap, which is not price clipped. Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no other inscriptions.
 
Agnes, Siobhan and Myrna all work in their local launderette. They appear to have little in common apart from a passion for keeping themselves to themselves, but things are not always what they seem.  

Agnes knows this only too well, having recently discovered her late husband's own shameful secret. She is fascinated by tales of true crime, and one crime in particular - the murder of her glamorous cousin Vina, found strangled outside a dancehall when Agnes was fifteen.  

Myrna lives for the weekends, longing for romance but craving for sex and money; with mounting debts, her decisions become fuelled by desperation, and she enters a shadowy night-time world fraught with menace.  

Siobhan is the most elusive of the three, retreating into her synaesthetic imagination, conjuring the details of people’s lives through their laundry. With the arrival of a new customer, her fantasies becoming gradually more and more treacherous.  

Despite their distance and their differences, isolation draws the women together. As casual work relationships develop into tentative, fragile friendships, all three are forced to make choices about their lives. Meanwhile, outside events are pushing towards a shocking conclusion...
