Spike Milligan THE LOONEY Signed Hardback
First edition third print hardback of THE LOONEY (An Irish Fantasy) by Spike Milligan and published by Michael Joseph in 1987. Signed to a previous owner by Milligan on the front endpaper. Milligan's second novel. The book is in near fine condition (green cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine) with no significant wear other than some age tanning towards the page edges, as is common with this title. The book is in a near fine unclipped dust jacket which has no wear to speak of. Internally the pages are otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.
Mick Looney's father told him, while on his HP deathbed, that they were descended from the Kings of Ireland. So what was he doing living in Kilburn mixing cement for Mowlems in the rain? What indeed, thought Looney. And so, having acquired a throne and a parking ticket, though alas no confirmation of his royal heritage, our hero vacates his Kilburn address, and returns to the Emerald Isle to claim what is wrongfully his.
