33rpm Four LP Record Box Set of SLS 5058 David Oistrakh Plays VIOLIN CONCERTOS by Shostakovich (No. 1 and 2); Prokofiev (No. 1); Khachaturian; Bartok (No. 1); Hindemith; Szymanowski (No. 1). It was issued on the EMI Melodiya label in 1976. UK pressing. Includes booklet with biographical notes, illustrated with black and white portrait photographs. This set represents some of the greatest recordings Oistrakh made in the USSR and complements the earlier issue (SLS 5004) which contains the best of his European recordings.The records themselves are graded better than excellent, with no surface marks visible when viewed under normal house lighting. Play-tested on a USB turntable. Superb sound quality with NO jumps, ticks, pops or crackle. Just about faultless playback.
Minimal to no spindle wear. Labels very clean. No discernible spider marks.
The box is graded very good, with some light wear (rubbing to edges, bumping to corners). The inner sleeves and booklet have no wear to speak of.
