Simon Courtauld SPANISH HOURS First Edition Signed

First edition, first print hardback of SPANISH HOURS by Simon Courtauld and published by Libri Mundi in 1996. Signed by Courtauld on the title page.

The book is in very good+ condition (orange cloth boards with gold lettering to spine) with light creasing to the top of the spine. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket that is lightly creased to the top and bottom of the front cover and top of the spine. Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

Spanish Hours goes to the heart of Spain and its people. It is about what happens in Spanish life from fish to bulls, from monarchy to Gibraltar. The book also covers the dark forces which have always been at work in Spain, leading to the devastation of civil war in 1936.

Part memoir, part travelogue and part history, Simon Courtauld's first book is a charming, idiosyncratic account of his love affair with this eternally fascinating country.
