Shelby Tucker AMONG INSURGENTS First Edition Signed

First edition, first print hardback of AMONG INSURGENTS (Walking Through Burma) by Shelby Tucker and published by The Radcliffe Press. Signed to Paddy Singh by Tucker on the title page.

The book is in very good+ condition (burgundy cloth boards with gold lettering to spine) with only very light creasing to the top corner of the front board and top and bottom of the spine. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket that is creased to the top of the front and back cover and front inner flap and to the top and bottom of the spine. Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

Among Insurgents describes a remarkable and perilous journey into a terra incognita. Shelby Tucker entered the Shan State of Burma through a border area of China closed to foreigners, crossed the Kachin Hills and left Burma via an area of India closed to foreigners.

But Among Insurgents is more than an extraordinary adventure story. It describes the Kachins, offers a brief and readable analysis of the Burmese Civil War and examines the symbiotic relationship between the civil war and the international drugs trade.
