Abraham (Richard Harris) is summoned by God one day to leave his homeland and journey to a land which He will show him. God promises that a great people will go forth from him, even though his wife Sara (Barbara Hershey) is infertile... This is the beginning of the story about three great world religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. All three religions can look back to Abraham as their founder, as their "Father in Faith". Although he must submit to severe trials, Abraham stands firm thanks to his incredible courage and trust in God's promise that "... in three shall all families of the Earth be blest." (Genesis 12, 2-3)...
