First edition first print hardback of WONGAN BALLIDU: Pioneering Days by R.R.B. Ackland and published for Wongan-Ballidu Shire Council, Australia, in 1965. Signed by Ackland on the Dedication page. There is a gift inscription to a previous owner by a member of the Ackland family on the front endpaper.The book is in near fine condition (brown cloth boards with gilt lettering to front and spine) with no significant wear. The book is in a very good- unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing to the edges and a couple of small closed tears and chips. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.
A carefully researched record of the early days of settlement in the district, compiled from the memories and experiences of pioneer settlers themselves. R.R.B. Ackland, who undertook the work, was himself a peioneer and the fourth settler in Wongan Hills and he has produced an accurate and true record of those days.
