First USA edition, first print hardback of IN PERSPECTIVE (The Best of His Work: 1938-1985) by Ronald Searle and published by The Atlantic Montly Press in 1983.The book is in very good+ condition (black cloth boards with silver lettering to spine and front) with only a bit of creasing to the top and bottom of the spine and bottom corner of the back board. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket that is lightly creased to the top and bottom of the spine and with light markings to the front cover. Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or inscriptions.
Ronald Searle makes people laugh, and wince, all over the world. He has been doing it, with drawing, cartoon and caricature, for forty-five years. This volume of more than two hundred plates in black and white and full color is the best of his work, selected by the artist himself and published in the year of his sixty-fifth birthday.
This is a collection of wit and moral questioning, of technical virtuosity and endless fantasy.
