Cover is given more than a thousand operations in which the Eighth Air Force Units participated between June 1942 and May 1945. Numbers of aircraft despatched, units involved, bomb tonnages, claims and losses plus a wealth of other detail are included for each mission. There are also 150 separate narratives of incidents and events, plus detailed appreciations of distinguished combatants. Some 400 illustrations support the text and give a remarkable pictorial record of the Eighth's campaign.
