Roderick Gordon is the bestselling author of the Tunnels Series, alongside co-author Brian Williams.

Roderick Gordon grew up in Highgate, North London and read Biology at University College, London, where he met his TUNNELS co-author, Brian Williams. The two very quickly became close friends due to their similar taste in films, music and literature and girls!

Williams grew up in a small copper-mining community in Zambia and experienced mine tunnels as a child. He moved with his family to Liverpool in the seventies. After indulging in his three main passions during his teenage years - amateur boxing, experimental art and high-speed car chases - he attended The Slade School of Fine Art in the early eighties.

Since graduating, he has continued with his painting, writing and film-making, which has encompassed both his own films and also working as art director and acting in a number of UK productions, including projects by Alex Cox and Charlie Higson. When his family moved to Liverpool, he became fascinated by the citys extensive network of underground tunnels constructed by 18th century businessman and philanthropist Joseph Williamson following the Napoleonic Wars.

After leaving a corporate finance role in the City, Roderick decided to team up with his old university friend to write a book for younger readers and in 2005 he self-published it as The Highfield Mole. Following a period of editing, Barry republished it as Tunnels as a softcover in July 2007.

After intense media interest around its launch, Tunnels was published in almost forty countries and was a New York Times Bestseller, achieving sales of more than a million copies worldwide. Shortly after publication, Relativity Media of the US purchased the rights to make the Tunnels movie, with production expected to start soon under the newly appointed director, Mikael Hafstrom.

There are now five books in the series: Tunnels, Deeper, Freefall, Closer, Spiral with a movie of the book currently in development and finally, a sixth book Terminal, in 2013.

The Tunnels books feature Will and his friends' continuing fight against a terrifying and brutal subterranean race called the Styx, who want to take control of the surface. If you thought you were safe, you'd better think again.

"In Book Two...

The Tunnels adventure is far from over for Will Burrows.

In his quest to find his father, Will is plunged even deeper underground. And as if things weren't bad enough already in the heat and darkness, he stumbles across a Styx plot with terrible implications for the world above - and a sister who isnt finished yet "

'... fantastic fun ... has a claustrophobia and grimness all its own ... well paced, exciting and - in places - frightening ... (You have been warned.) The danger in the darkness is very real and is well worth the wait.' PHILIP ARDAGH

'Does it live up to the hype? Yes ... a corker of a plot ... the beginnings of a sensational series.' DAILY EXPRESS, UK

'Gruesome and engrossing.' FT MAGAZINE, UK

'Compelling...The authors add distinctive, vivid touches' Booklist
