The book is in very good condition (Clean green cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine), with slight wear to the illustrated dust jacket which is not price clipped (very light creasing to edges, very small peeling to the top spine edge and bottom edge at the back, some fading and small fingernail tear to the spine front ridge). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions. There is minor tanning to the pages.
"This history of the Sporting Shotgun began in 1787 when the patent of Henry Nock heralded the dawn of sporting shooting. The designs of the shotguns from this time on are recorded and shown in detailed photographs.
Descriptions of fashionable shooting parties are also included and make colourful reading. The shotgun calibres, often a confusing subject, are clearly defined.
