Robin Ade is an expert on fish, specialising in trout and salmon, especially Scottish trout fishing. He has written about fishing trout rivers in Scotland, including many Scottish rivers you may know, as well as more detailed technical information about trout and salmon. Robin Ade has two published books 'Fisher in the Hills; a Season in Galloway' and 'The Trout and Salmon Handbook; a Guide to the Wild Fish' and has also written numerous articles for magazines and newspapers and chapters in books.

Robin Ade's fish art is renowned both nationally and internationally for its technical accuracy and compositional quality. His technically accurate water colour paintings of various species of fish - in particular trout and salmon - are beautiful and vivid, capturing the colours and tones of a fish in water before the air starts to dull the colours.

"This attractive and informative guide guide brings together the colorful lore and natural history of two of the world's most popular game fish in a handsome volume that will appeal to both the experienced angler and the armchair naturalist.

Covering the salmon and trout populations around the world - the Atlantic, Pacific, and Great Lakes salmon, the rainbow trout of the Northwest, the rare and exotic Golden and Marbled trout, and more - the author discusses their life-cycles, their breeding patterns, the mysteries of their evolution, and their extraordinary migrations. The book also details the changing ecology of the fishes' environment and the effects of pollution, as well as new methods of fishery management, conservation, and research with particular emphasis on rare and endangered species. Included too are angling tips and sporting characteristics for each fish, and ways to keep and prepare to catch.

Illustrated by the author throughout, with full colour plates and over 70 black & white line drawings, makes fascinating reading for the naturalist and conservationist and is an essential reference for any Angling enthusiast."
