Information
First edition first print hardback of RETRIEVER TRAINING FOR THE DUCK HUNTER by Robert Milner (illustrated by Philip Crowe, Introduction by Norman Strung) and published by Nassau Press in 1983. Signed 'Best Wishes' by Milner on the front endpaper.

The book is in very good condition (quarterbound brown boards with silver lettering to brown cloth spine and front) with light bumping to the top and bottom corners of the front board and bottom corner of the back board, as well as light creasing to the top and bottom of the spine. The book is in a good unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing and rubbing to the top and bottom of the front and back covers and spine, a one inch closed tear to the top corner and bottom edge of the front cover, top of the spine and top edge of the back cover, which also has an open tear to the top edge. The page edges are lightly age tanned, with age spotting to the top page edges. Internally the pages have lightly browned but are otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

Retriever Training for the Duck Hunter is much more than a comprehensive method for the training of retrievers. Milner's text deals with that special relationship which develops between a hunter and his dog. This warmth and closeness shared by both - working and thinking in unison - is unique. It is this kind of relationship which all dog lovers seek.

The developmental process through which you and your dog will progress, chapter by chapter, will suddenly appear quite logical and easy to follow.

Though designed for the duck hunter and his retriever, Milner's book applies to anyone - adults or youngsters, who will take pride in having an ideally trained retriever.
