First edition first print hardback of SECOND TO NONE by Richard C Smith and published by Grub Street in 2004. Signed by Smith and 3 veterans on the half title page. The signatures are those of: W Bird of 229 Squadron; Dave Davis of 222 (Spitfire) Squadron; G Reynolds of 2713 Squadron.

The book is in fine condition (black cloth boards with silver lettering to spine) with no significant wear. The book is in a near fine unclipped dust jacket which has light curling to edges and a small shop sticker on the back cover. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

A pictorial history of Hornchurch aerodrome through two world wars and beyond, 1915-1962. Drawn from a variety of collections, this unique and largely unpublished archive of 250 photographs with explanatory text documents the entire history of the famous fighter station.
