RCR Barder SPINNING FOR PIKE First Edition

First edition, first print hardback of SPINNING FOR PIKE by R.C.R. Barder. Published by Arco Publications, London in 1970. Foreword by Fred J. Taylor.

The book is in very good condition (Clean green cloth boards with silver lettering on the spine), with some minor wear to the pictorial dust jacket which is not price clipped (light creasing to the edges and slight tanning inside the jacket). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions. There is slight foxing to the page ends.

How, when, where to catch pike by spinning - these are the main themes of this book, about which the noted angling correspondent Fred J. Taylor comments: 'Dick Barder has passed on a wealth of knowledge'.

Many experienced anglers as well as novices use less rewarding methods because they consider the rigs, lures, tackles and methods required in spinning are too complex.

The author shows them, in clear and simple - almost conversational - terms, how they can enjoy the sport and also profit by it. Numerous photographs and diagrams highlight his advice.

Richard Barder is also concerned with the reasons why so many great pike have been caught by spinning. His controversial views on the subject, and his argument that spinning is the method to use for record-breaking, will be of particular interest to the specimen-hunter."

'This is simply the most comprehensive book on pike fishing ever written' - Oxford Mail
