Item description, condition report, payment options and related products below

First UK edition, first print paperback of FLOATER FISHING by Brian Skoyles & Chris Ball and published by Paisley-Wilde Publishing Ltd., Sheffield, in 1991. From the Carp in Depth Series.

The book is in very good condition with only very minor shelf wear. Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions.

The authors of Floater Fishing can justifiably claim to be among the country's leading authorities on this type of carp fishing. Chris Ball has been a prominent member of the carp fishing community for nearly twenty years, as an angler, an organiser and a carp organisation committee man within the BCSG and the Carp Society. Over the last few years he has caught carp off the surface from three of the toughest carp waters in the country. These fish include one of the largest floater caught fish ever landed, and possibly the biggest winter surface caught carp: an astonishing record.

Co-author Brian Skoyle is a surface fishing buff - an absolut addict. He is Humberside regional organiser for the Carp Society. He is a regular writer about carp fishing. Brian's competence as a floater fisher was truly put to the test when he was asked to catch a carp off the top on video - and conjured a near twenty pound common out of Birch Grove at a time when the carp just weren't responding floaters! Brian's inventiveness, thoroughness and clear thinking make all his technical writings definitive works - and 'definitive work' suitably describes this book these two floater fishing experts have compiled.

"Since the early 50's it has been accepted that fishing for carp is different to the fishing that takes place for the other species of coarse fish. Tackle, tactics, methods, presentation and baits, have all evolved from coarse fishing methods and have been adapted, and refined to pursuit of carp: methods and tackle have been invented as the changing requirements of carp fishing have dictated.

The Carp in Depth series has been put together in an attempt to satisfy carp anglers' growing appetite for information about their species and its pursuit. There are some excellent books about carp fishing, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to say all there is to say in a book of even 80,000-90,000 words. Therefore the idea of a series of books of 25,000-30,000 words each was born.

30,000 words on any single aspect of carp fishing sounds a daunting prospect but because we went to experts in their field for each subject the reaction of the various authors was unanimous - it isn't enough! But we wanted to take the full spectrum of carp fishing to the growing readership at an affordable price, so we stuck with our original concept, and the Carp in Depth series is the result."

109 pages. Illustrated with black & white photographs and line drawings.
