Complete Set of Five Corgi Paperbacks that make up - THE MALLOREON Series by David Eddings and published by Corgi Books Ltd, London. The books are GUARDIANS OF THE WEST, KING OF THE MURGOS, DEMON LORD OF KARANDA, SORCERESS OF DARSHIVA and SEERESS OF KELL. With illustrations by Geoff Taylor. The books were published between 1987 and 1992.

All of the books are in good condition, with only slight wear (light creasing to a couple of spines, slight rubbing to the edges, slight tanning to the pages. Overall, a good, clean, presentable set). Internally, the pages of all of the books are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions.

Writer and educator, fantasy master David Eddings was born on July 7, 1931 in Spokane, Washington. He received a B.A. in English from Reed College in Portland in 1954 and a M.A. in Middle English from the University of Washington in 1961, writing part of a novel as his Master's thesis. After serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, Eddings began working as a grocery clerk. He later worked for the Boeing Company, placing Minuteman missiles throughout the U.S. He spent a few years teaching English in a business college and a teachers' college. His first novel, High Hunt, was an outdoor adventure about a group of men on a deer hunt in the mountains of Washington State. After nine years, Eddings published Pawn of Prophecy, the first of the Belgariad series. The success of that series led to three more, the Mallorean, the Elenium, and the Dreamers. Prolific and bestselling, Eddings was the author of more than 25 books, many of them written with his wife Leigh Eddings. He died on June 2, 2009 at the age of 77.

The set comprises five of David Eddings's epic fantasy THE MALLOREON series - The sequel to The Belgariad.

GUARDIANS OF THE WEST - The first book in the Malloreon series: "Warned by the prophecy that a new and greater danger threatens the lands of the west, Garion, Belgarath and Polgara must begin another quest to save the lands from great evil. Three years have passed since Garion's killing of the evil god Torak and his marriage to Ce'Nedra. He is now Overlord of the West, slowly learning how to cope with the duties of a king and to overcome the difficulties within his marriage.

When the Orb of Aldur warns Garion to 'Beware Zandramas!' the Voice of Prophecy reveals that somewhere in the unknown land of the East the Dark Prophecy still exists and that great new dangers threaten.

While Belgarath and Garion seek to uncover the nature of this threat, Garion's baby son is kidnapped. All evidence points to the loathsome Bear-cult, which has gained power once more, and Garion leads an army bent on its destruction. But there are even more sinister forces at work, and Garion and his followers must look towards the malign and mysterious evil of Zandramas. Their quest must begin again."

428 pages. ISBN: 0 552 13017 6

KING OF THE MURGOS - The Malloreon Book Two: In this second book of The Malloreon, Garion and Ce'nedra continue the quest begun in Guardians of the West. In their party travel the immortal Belgarath the Sorcerer, his daughter Polgara the Sorceress, and the little Drasnian, Silk.

Garion knows that it is the mysterious figure Zandramas who is responsible for the abduction of his infant son, and he and his companions journey many miles and encounter many strange beings in their search for him.

Their way leads through the foul swamps of Nyissa, ruled over by the Snake-Queen, and on into the dark kingdom of the Murgos, where human sacrifices are still made to the dead god Torak. Further on, however, even beyond those forbidding lands, they must face the ultimate danger - not only to themselves but to all mankind... "

443 pages. ISBN: 0 552 13018 4

DEMON LORD OF KARANDA - The Malloreon, Book Three: "In this third book of The Malloreon, Garion, Belgarath and their friends follow the quest begun in Guardians of the West and continued in King of the Murgos. It will lead them further into the dark designs of Zandramas and the strange ways of demons...

The company now knows that Garion's baby son has been kidnapped by Zandramas and is to be used in a terrible ritual which will make the Dark Destiny supreme. The group, however, has been detained by Zakath, Emperor of all Mallorea, and taken to Mal Zeth, the largest city in the world.

When a dire plague strikes, they manage to escape and, as prophesied by the Seeress of Kell, travel on to Ashaba - but, although they find Urvon, mad disciple of the evil god Torak, and the Demon Lord Nahaz, Zandramas is gone. In a desperate race against time, the company turn east once more to follow her spoor... "

398 pages. ISBN: 0 552 13019 2

SORCERESS OF DARSHIVA - The Malloreon, Book Four: "Garion and his companions continue their desperate search for Zandramas, the Child of Dark and abductor of Garion's baby son, Geran. Led by the orb from Mallorea to the island of Melcena, they discover the place the sardion once rested and also find Senji, a self-taught wizard whose undamaged copy of the Ashabine oracles carries a message for Garion from the evil god Torak.

As Zandramas's intention to fulfil the Dark Destiny becomes clear, Garion and his friends know that they must travel to Kell. There they will discover from the Malloreon Gospels the truth of their ultimate destination, The Place Which Is No More. But the friends are not alone in their search as the prophecies of Cyradis, the Seeress of Kell, begin to be fulfilled."

395 pages. ISBN: 0 552 13020 6

SEERESS OF KELL - The Malloreon Book Five: "Now in the final stages of their quest for his son, Garion and his companions travel to Kell to consult the only undamaged copy of the Malloreon Gospels. For centuries the Seers have guarded this book from the Grolims and even had their wizards put a curse of blindness on any Grolim who tried to enter Kell.

So, as proclaimed in Guardians of the West, Belgarion the Godslayer sets out with those who must join him: the Eternal Man, the Guide, the Man with Two Lives, the Bearer of the Orb and the Silent Man, and the rest of his companions to The Place Which Is No More to make the final choice - darkness or light.

But Zandramas the Sorceress will not be outdone. Though she may not enter Kell she still has young Geran and should she reach the final meeting place with him, then Garion must slay his son or the world will be no more."

443 pages. ISBN: 0 552 13021 4
