Item description, condition report, payment options and related products below

First edition, first print hardback of MOTOCOURSE 1977-1978 Motorcycle Road Racing Annual. This is the second issue in the MOTOCOURSE series which started publication in 1976. Edited by Chris Carter. Foreword by Barry Sheene. Published by Hazleton Securities Ltd., Surrey in 1977.

The book is in very good condition (Clean brown-maroon cloth boards, gilt lettering on spine) with a little wear to the pictorial dust jacket which is not price clipped and protected in mylar (very light creasing to the spine edges, peeling to the bottom spine edge, very small area of loss to the jacket at top of the spine, a 3 centimetre closed tear to the edge of the inside jacket front flap, just across the bottom corner of the Barry Sheene photo, as shown in the picture below). Internally, the pages are clean and there are no tears and no inscriptions. There is very light tanning to the pages. All in all a really good, tight copy of this rare, collectable title.

MOTOCOURSE annuals; world famous MotoGP and Superbike annuals are regarded as the definitive collectors items for any self respecting motorcycle sport fan.

MOTOCOURSE annuals cover a long period of the sport's history, from 1976 to the present day, and, as such, are highly collectible. Its aims were to "to provide the most complete data obtainable with interesting and authentic information, settle arguments and provide countless hours of interesting study and amusement. MOTOCOURSE world famous MotoGP and Superbike annuals are regarded as the definitive collectors items for any self respecting motorcycle sport fan.

The renowned Chris Carter started the book in 1976 and 1977. The first three editions of Motocourse, from 1976-1977 through 1979-80, are remarkably scarce. Hazelton, with Carter as editor, published the first copies in December of 1976 and there have only been single printings since that day. "The book has grown over the years, with copies in the 1970s at a lower production level, and now (they're) almost impossible to find," says Richard Poulter, Publisher and Managing Director at Hazelton Publishing.

In the first seasons of the annual (until the mid-1980s), the photography was almost completely black and white. That's not bad of course, black and white is still the format of choice for some purists, the images show a tone and emotion that would be lost if you viewed them in colour.

"MOTOCOURSE 1977-1978 is the second edition of our annual on International Motorcycle Road Racing, recording all the facts and figures on the 1977 season in 200 action-filled pages, including over 300 photographs.

'MOTOCOURSE, in the space of one year, has turned out to be the most prestigious book on any motorcycle racing enthusiast's book-shelf. I was really pleased to learn that issue One had been a real sell-out, I guess that it will be a collector's item in a very short time

Issue Two certainly lives up to the very high standard set by the first. Enjoy the book, it's great reading.' - 1977 500cc World Champion Barry Sheene

Superbly presented, MOTOCOURSE is established as the ultimate source book and a collectable essential. No wonder it's nicknamed 'The Bible'.
