Item description, condition report, payment options and related products below

First edition, first print hardback of AUTOCOURSE 1996-1997, 46th Year of Publication of the world's leading Grand Prix annual, published by Hazleton Publishing Ltd., Surrey. Edited by Alan Henry. The foreword is by Damon Hill.

The book is in very good condition with only slight wear to the dust jacket, which is price clipped (some creasing/curling to the edges, slight rubbing & chipping to the corners and tiny closed tear near to the top spine corner). Internally, the pages are very clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions.

AUTOCOURSE annuals cover a long period of the sport's history, from 1951 to the present day, and, as such, are highly collectible. The first edition of AUTOCOURSE appeared in 1951, as a quarterly review of motorsport. Its aims were to "to provide the most complete data obtainable with interesting and authentic information, settle arguments and provide countless hours of interesting study and amusement." The first AUTOCOURSE in annual form was published in 1959 as a paperback. The first hardback annual was 1961/62. Starting in 1966, the annual's editor has chosen the Top Ten F1 drivers of each season.

All the action, controversy and contrasting emotions of the F1 season are captured in the 46th edition of AUTOCOURSE, long established as the world's leading Grand Prix annual. Extensive coverage and analysis of every race, with detailed statistics and driver profiles.

"The 1996 Grand Prix season was dominated by an epic battle for the Drivers’ World Championship between Britain’s Damon Hill and his new Williams team-mate, Jacques Villeneuve. Amid growing tension, Hill’s seemingly secure lead in the points table was steadily eroded as the season neared its climax, but Damon responded to the challenge in characteristically resolute fashion, clinching the title with a majestic lights-to-flag victory in the finale in Japan.

Gracious in defeat, Villeneuve had scored four wins during a spectacular first season in Grand Prix racing and established himself as the brightest new star to have emerged on the F1 scene since Michael Schumacher. The brilliant German had to overcome a series of setbacks during an eventful first season as a Ferrari driver but lifted Italian spirits with three well-judged victories, including an emotional home win at Monza. Between them, these three drivers won every race bar one – an incident-filled Monaco GP that fell to a rank outsider, Ligier’s Olivier Panis – but there was no shortage of action, controversy, and innovation right through the field.

The full story of another dramatic F1 season is retold in the 46th edition of AUTOCOURSE, firmly established as the world's leading Grand Prix annual. Featuring the work of many of the sport's top writers and photographers, it offers an unrivalled record of the motor racing year that no enthusiast should be without.

Contents include: Top Ten Drivers, Team-by-team F1 review, Full Grand Prix reports, Comprehensive Grand Prix statistics, F3000, F3 and sports car racing, International touring car racing reviews, United States racing review and International results round-up."

272 pages with stunning photographs and extensive technical data.
