First UK edition, first print hardback of THE FUGITIVE TRAIL by Zane Grey and published by Hodder and Stoughton Limited, London in 1958. The book was first published in the USA in 1957.

The book is in very good condition (Clean blue cloth boards with gilt lettering and decoration on spine) with minor wear to the illustrated dust jacket, which is not price clipped (light rubbing to the corners, slight label removal wear to back cover but nothing drastic). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions. There is minor tanning to the pages, jacket flaps inside and light foxing to page ends.

Zane Grey (1872 – 1939) was an American author best known for his popular adventure novels and stories that presented an idealized image of the Old West. The father of the western novel, Zane Grey wrote 58 westerns and almost 30 other books. Grey wrote not only Westerns, but two hunting books, six children’s books, two baseball books, and eight fishing books.

Many of them became bestsellers. Riders of the Purple Sage (1912) was his best-selling book. In addition to the success of his printed works, they later had second lives and continuing influence when adapted as films and television productions. As of 2012, 112 films, two television episodes, and a television series, Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater, had been made that were based loosely on his novels and short stories.

"Bruce Lockheart was a tough Texas hombre, but he was loyal. When his brother, Barse involved in a hold-up, it was Bruce who took the blame, because Trinity Spencer loved Barse. Out he rode on the fugitive trail with Maggard, the Texan Ranger, in relentless pursuit. And not far behind was the girl he loved."
