First American Edition, Two Volume Hardback Set in slipcase of THE COMPLETE SHORT STORIES OF W. SOMERSET MAUGHAM by W. Somerset Maugham and published by Doubleday & Company, Inc., Garden City, New York, in 1952.

Both of the books are in very condition with just minor bumping to the spine edges (grey textured boards with gilt and black decoration on the front and spine with gilt lettering on the spine, and white and black lettering on a green background at the front of the black slipcase). The slipcase is in good sturdy condition with some wear to the corners and edges (rubbing and peeling to the four open corners, bit of cracking to the top and bottom rear edges). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions.

The following is a bibliography of the works of W. Somerset Maugham, one of the most prolific and popular English writers of the 20th century.

A slum novel Liza of Lambeth (1897) was Maugham's first book. Its modest success was enough for Maugham to leave medicine and become a professional writer.

A collection of his complete short stories.
