"However many cookery books you may have you cannot possibly miss this one! Those who have been lucky enough to have enjoyed a Farthinghoe Cookery Course or have heard Nicola Cox demonstrating will know why - she has an infectious enthusiasm for producing the most delicious food and gives extremely clear, practical advice on how it is done.
In this book, entertaining in all senses, Nicola Cox makes some shrewd comments on equipment, ingredients and basic recipes before turning to six specific types of entertaining - buffets, dinner parties, informal lunch and supper parties. Special occasions and, not least of all, spontaneous entertaining. The recipes range over all manner of delights from soups, pates and hors d'oeuvres, succulent meat, game, poultry and fish dishes to the most exciting cold and hot puddings. They are meticulously planned and described and include, wherever applicable, information on pre-preparation and freezing and variations in quantities of ingredients required when cooking for large numbers.
Give yourself - and your family, to say nothing of your more discriminating friends - a treat and try some of these mouth-watering recipes from Farthinghoe. You will soon see why Nicola Cox won the Best Cook in Britain award."
