First edition, first print hardback of THE BLESSING by Nancy Mitford and published by Random House in 1951.The book is in very good- condition (blue cloth boards with gold and silver lettering to spine with a small silver illustration and light blue pattern to the front) with creasing to the top and bottom of the spine, rubbing to the edge of the front board, tiny markings and a tiny white stain to the back board. The dust jacket, which is not price clipped (protected in an archival sleeve), is in good+ condition with large open tears to the top and bottom of the spine and smaller open tears to the top corners and edges of the front and back covers. There is also light creasing to the top of the back cover. Internally, the pages are age tanned but otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions.
Set in the post-World War II period The Blessing is a comic satirical novel revolving around an English country girl, Grace, who moves to France and falls for a dashing aristocratic Frenchman who proves to be troublesome.
