Monty Roberts THE MAN WHO LISTENS TO HORSES First Edition Signed

First UK edition, first print hardback of THE MAN WHO LISTENS TO HORSES, by Monty Roberts and published by Hutchinson, London, in 1996. Signed by the author (Monty) on the title page. 'Signed Copy' sticker to front cover.

The book is in very good condition (clean maroon boards and gold lettering to spine) with some minor wear to the dust jacket, which is not price clipped (light creasing to edges, mainly to the top and bottom of the spine). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions. There is some age browning to page edges.

This is the fascinating life story of a man whose unique methods reveal the depth of communication that is possible between man and horse. His powers may seem like magic but Monty Robert's amazing 'horse sense' is based on a lifetime of experience. He started riding at the age of two and has never looked back.

He has spent his whole life working with horses, schooling them, studyingtheir behaviour in the wild, listening to them, caring for them and learning their language. Monty Roberts describes his extraordinary early days as a rodeo rider in California, his problems with his father, his struggle to set up as a professional trainer, his friendship with James Dean, and his demonstration of 'join up' to the Queen at Windsor, an event which brought Monty's methods to the attention of trainers and owners across the world.
