Miss Read THRUSH GREEN First Edition 1959

First edition first print hardback of THRUSH GREEN by 'Miss Read' and published by Michael Joseph Ltd in 1959.

The book is in very good condition (green cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine) with light bumping to the edges of the spine and scuffing to the corners. The book is in a very good- unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing here and there and some small chips and tears to the edges - however, still very presentable. Page edges are lightly stained due to aging. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or inscriptions.

This volume introduces Thrush Green, the neighbouring village to Fairacre: its blackthorn bushes, thatch-roofed cottages, enchanting landscape, and jumble sales. Readers will delight in a new cast of characters and also welcome familiar faces as they become immersed in the village's turn of events on one pivotal day - May Day. Before the day is over, life and love and perhaps eternity will touch the immemorial peace of the village.
