First edition, first print hardback of THE MALICE OF UNNATURAL DEATH by Michael Jecks and published by Headline Book Publishing, London, in 2006. The 22nd novel in Michael Jecks' medieval 'Knights Templar' series. Signed by Jecks on the title page. With number '1' on the copyright page and a 'Signed by the author' sticker on the front cover.The book is in very good condition (clean red cloth boards and gilt lettering on the spine) with only minor wear to the dust jacket, which is not price clipped (light creasing to the edges). Internally, the pages are clean and tight, there are no tears and no other inscriptions. There is slight tanning to the pages.
Michael Jecks gave up a career in the computer industry to concentrate on his writing. He is the founder of Medieval Murderers, has been Chairman of the Crime Writers' Association, and helped create the Historical Writers' Association. Keen to help new writers, for some years he organised the Debut Dagger competition, and is now organising the AsparaWriting festival for new writers at Evesham.
He has judged many prizes, including the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger. Michael is an international speaker on writing and for business. Jecks has written a series of novels featuring Sir Baldwin Furnshill, a former Knight Templar, and his friend Simon Puttock, Bailiff of Lydford Castle.
In 2007 Michael's twenty-first novel, The Death Ship of Dartmouth was short-listed for the Theakston's Old Peculier prize for the best crime novel of the year - a rare accolade for a medieval novel.
