Martin Middlebrook Chris Everitt THE BOMBER COMMAND WAR DIARIES First Edition Signed

First edition, first print hardback of THE BOMBER COMMAND WAR DIARIES (An Operational Reference Book, 1939-1945) by Martin Middlebrook and Chris Everitt and published by Viking Penguin Books in 1985. Signed with a personal message by Middlebrook on the title page.

The book is in very good condition (grey cloth boards with gold lettering to spine) with creasing to the top and bottom of the spine, corners of the front and back boards and a crease to the bottom of the back board. The book is in a good unclipped dust jacket that is creased on the top and bottom of the front and back covers and spine. Additionally, there are two thumbnail closed tears to the corners of the front cover. Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

Bomber Command's campaign started on the very first day of the Second World War and ended within a few hours of the final victory in Europe five and a half years later. It was an attempt to win a war in Europe by strategic bombing on such an enormous scale that historians are only now beginning to piece together the finer details of the individual raids.

The Bomber Command War Diaries are sure to become the standard work of reference on this extraordinary campaign.
