Reprint Minerva edition paperback of CHURCHILL: A LIFE by Martin Gilbert and published by Mandarin Paperbacks in 1992. Signed to a previous owner by Gilbert on the title page Uncommon signed.The book is in very good condition with mainly light handling and storage wear, although there is a one-inch closed tear to the bottom edge of the front cover. Internally the pages are lightly tanned around the edges but are otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.
This lengthy biography is a single-volume abridgment of a massive, eight-volume work that took 25 years to write. It covers Churchill's entire life, highlighting not only his exploits during the Second World War, but also his early belief in technology and how it would revolutionize warfare in the 20th century. Churchill learned how to fly a plane before the First World War, and was also involved in the development of both the tank and anti-aircraft defense, but he truly showed his unmatched mettle during his country's darkest moments.
