First edition first print hardback of NOT SCARLET BUT GOLD (A Lone Pine Adventure) by Malcolm Saville and published by George Newnes Ltd in 1962. Red top page edges.
The book is in very good condition (red cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and front) with light creasing to the top and bottom of the spine which has some light colour fading. Lightly age spotted front and bottom page edges. The dust jacket is missing. Internally the pages are lightly age tanned but otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears or inscriptions. A nice copy.
A young tourist appears in the mountains of Shropshire, hunting his father's legacy of the war. He meets Peter, and David's emotions are somewhat disturbed as their relationship has arrived at a critical point. The twins are more interested in the adventure and puzzling out the latest mystery in the Mynd and Stiperstones country.
