First UK edition, second print hardback of THE GREEK ISLANDS by Lawrence Durrell and published by Faber & Faber Limited in 1978.The book is in very good/good condition (clean green boards and bright gold lettering on spine) with some wear to the dust jacket, which is price clipped (rubbing and light creasing to edges, bumping to corners, longish tear to back cover). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions. Boards slightly bowed.
There are about two thousand Greek islands, and every year more tourists visit them, some to study the past, some to sail from island to island, some to marvel at the architecture or the abundance of wild flowers, some to bask in the heat or bathe amid incomparable scenery. What would you feel sorry to have missed while you were there?
