Kenneth Munson AIRCRAFT OF WORLD WAR ONE First Edition
First edition, first print hardback of AIRCRAFT OF WORLD WAR 1 by Kenneth Munson and published by Ian Allan Ltd., in 1967.The book is in very good condition (Brown cloth boards with silver lettering on spine), with only minor wear to the illustrated dust jacket which is price clipped (very slight creasing to the edges, a fingernail closed tear to the front bottom corner). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions.
"The war of 1914-1918 was a remarkable and important epoch for many widely different reasons. Not least of these was that it represented the first widespread use of the aeroplane - which many people thought would be of little military value - as a major weapon of war. Such thinking was quickly disproved, and the aeroplanes described in this volume illustrate how the military aeroplane developed from the unarmed observation machines of 1914 to the highly effective specialised types that were in service by November of 1918.
The presentation of the aircraft, to the same style as the author's Aircraft of World War II, again provides a complete library in one volume to the student of this period of the colourful history of aviation."
