First Guild edition hardback two book set of THE HOBBIT AND THE LORD OF THE RINGS by J. R. R. Tolkien and published in 1978 and 1980 respectively.

The books are in very good condition (brown leatherbound boards with gilt lettering and bordering to front and spine) with no significant wear apart from light staining to the top edges of both books, though no pages or text are affected. No dust jackets as issued. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or inscriptions.

Tolkien's classic tales following the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, his nephew Frodo and their companions against the dark forces of Sauron and his army. 

Lord of the Rings has 1,077 pages and The Hobbit has 258 pages. Illustrated with line drawings and maps.
