Johnny Richards DAMAGE RENDERED First Edition Paperback Signed
A first edition, first print paperback copy of DAMAGE RENDERED, by Johnny Richards and published by Emerald Publishing in 2006. Signed by the author and with a dedication on the title page (see picture below). The book is in very good condition with only minor wear evident (very light creasing/bumping to corners, rubbing to edges, but nothing drastic at all). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no other inscriptions.
This novel is of a species of thriller that is allegorical on a number of levels - ethical, political, geo-political and societal - holding up a mirror to the zeitgeist and unsustainable moral equivalence of the Western World at the turn of the Twenty First Century.
The author conjures up a multi-faceted canvas as wide as the big Montanan sky and yet as piercing as a Manhattan skyscraper. These two locations provide the backdrop for a tale of both satisfying intimacy and yet universal perspective and insight.
Set in the cataclysmic week that historians already speak of as the real nexus between two millennia, Damage Rendered is a story about people being damaged (even those who do the damaging are in essence, a priori, damaged themselves).
Traversing the continent in ever-accelerating intensity, the novel encapsulates neatly the fin-de-siecle feeling prevalent in the aftermath of September 11th.
Desdemona is alone and frightened... Creet is harbouring ideas... Schultz is O.T.L.D. and Pentavsky is desperate to stop him... Trip is hanging on valiantly... Toddlington is trying to make his name... O'Driscoll's arrogant impunity is nearly at an end.
