First edition, first print slipcased hardback of A SHORT HISTORY OF THE ENGLISH PEOPLE, by John Richard Green and published by The Folio Society in 1992. Edited and with an Introduction by Roger Hudson. Maps drawn by Reginald and Marjorie Piggott.

The book is in near fine condition (clean green leather boards with gilt decoration and gilt lettering on spine) housed in a brown slipcase which is in very good condition. Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions.

First published in 1874, A Short History of the English People became an instant best seller and was hugely popular for many years. This Folio Society edition remains true to the original text with minor emendations.
