The book is in very good condition (blue cloth boards with gilt lettering to the front and spine) with light rubbing to the edges, bumping to the top and bottom edges of the spine and age-related staining here and there. The book is in a fair/poor unclipped dust jacket which is rather tatty with creasing, tearing and areas of loss to the spine. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or significant blemishes.

Mr. Masefield has always loved to write of sailing ships. For a part of the present story he writes of the race of the China Clippers, the finest and fleetest of all sailing ships. He knows well the life that was lived in these ships. And he knows the pleasures and also the dangers of such a life. The stpry concerns a crew which is forced to abandon ship and take to the boats. The men face hunger, drought and raging seas...
