First edition first print hardback of THE WOODLAND GOSPELS (according to Captain Beaky and his Band) by Jeremy Lloyd. Illustrated by Graham Percy Foreword by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Published by Faber and Faber in 1984. Signed by Lloyd on the title page.

The book is in near fine condition (glossy pictorial boards) with no more than very light bumping to corners. No dust jacket. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears.

Captain Beaky and his Band set out to spread the Good News to their fellow creatures in the woods. But it rains, so they spend their afternoon under a boat listening to Artful Owl reading the Woodland Bible and in this way the teaching of Jesus is brought home to Captain Beacky and his band - and to us - in an absolutely fresh and engaging way.
