First edition, first print hardback of WHO'S THE B*****D IN THE BLACK? - Confessions of a Premiership Referee, by Jeff Winter with Ray Simpson and Andrew Wilkinson. Published by Ebury Press, London, in 2006. Signed and inscribed by Winter on the title page.
The book is in very good condition (Clean black cloth boards with silver lettering on the spine) with only minor wear to the pictorial dust jacket, which is not price clipped (light creasing to the edges and a slight folding line across the back). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no other inscriptions.
Jeff Winter's career as a referee stretched over some 25 years. His relationship with the FA came to an end when he left his post as a match assessor, after openly criticising managers Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger. Since leaving the game he has become a sought after pundit and a regular guest on Sky and BBC Five Live. Bust-ups have continued into his life as a commentator - with both Sam Allardyce and Steve Bruce banning him from their grounds for his comments. He also referees BBC Superstars and has appeared as the referee in Sky's football soap Dream Team. He is much in demand as a public speaker.
