First edition tenth print hardback of THE DOG LISTENER (Learning the Language of Your Best Friend) by Jan Fennell and published by HarperCollins in 2000. Foreword by Monty Roberts. Signed to a previous owner by Fennell on the title page. Numberline is: 10The book is in near fine condition (blue cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine) with no significant wear. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket which has very light creasing to the edges and a tiny piece missing from the top corner of the back cover. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.
Jan's story is an inspirational and at times moving one. She tells of the tragic death that first led her to reassess conventional attitudes to dogs. She describes how she grew determined to find a more compassionate alternative to standard 'obedience' training techniques. Most importantly of all, she provides an easy-to-follow guide to understanding her technique, a method made all the more remarkable by its simplicity.
