First edition hardback of THE ULTIMATE SHOCKHEADED PETER or Horrible Stories and Noisy Pictures (A Junk Opera) adapted by Martyn Jacques of The Tiger Lillies from the original text by Dr. Heinrich Hoffmann. Published by Autorenhaus-Verlag Plinke Berlin in 1999. Signed by all 3 members of The Tiger Lillies (Jacques, Adrian Huge and Adrian Stout) on the title page. Includes a programme from the stage production of the Opera, plus used tickets from the show and a press cutting.

The book is in very good condition (pictorial boards) with light bumping to the corners. No dust jacket as issued. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

When Dr. Heinrich Hoffmann (1804 - 1894), a physician and psychiatrist in Frankfurt, could not find a suitable picture-book for his three-year-old son, he wrote and drew one himself. Der Struwwelpeter was published in 1845 and a translation into English followed only three years later. Der Struwwelpeter became a children's classic all over the world and is still in print today.
