Goldenveizer TALKS WITH TOLSTOI First Edition Signed

First edition first print hardback of TALKS WITH TOLSTOI by A.B. Goldenveizer and translated by S.S. Koteliansky and Virginia Woolf, published by Leonard & Virginia Woolf at The Hogarth Press in 1923. Signed and dated to a previous owner (and friend) by Koteliansky on the half title page. Very rare signed.

The book is in good condition (patterned paper boards with black lettering to brown cloth spine) with fading to the pattern on both boards, rubbing and bumping to the corners and edges of the boards and light creasing to the top and bottom of the spine. There is age browning to the page edges (rough cut front and bottom page edges). The book is missing its glassene jacket. Internally the endpapers are lightly age spotted and the pages are lightly age tanned but are otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

Selections from vol. I of Russian musician Goldenveizer's diary, published in Moscow in 1922 as" Vblizi Tolstovo." Memoirs of conversations between Tolstoi and the young pianist composer; visits spent talking of art, religion, doctors, literature. Translated by S.S. Koteliansky and Virginia Woolf.
