First edition first print hardback of THE NAO OF BROWN by Glyn Dillon and published by SelfMadeHero in 2012. Signed by Dillon on a Nao of Brown bookplate attached to the front endpaper. Numberline is 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1. Graphic novel.The book is in very good condition (white cloth boards with white imprinted lettering to spine and illustration to front, red page edges) with light bumping to the top corner of the front board and bottom corner of the back board, as well as light creasing to the top and bottom of the spine. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing to the top and bottom of the front and back cover and spine. Internally the bottom corners of the first few pages have light folding creases but the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.
Nao brown suffers from OCD, but not the hand-washing, overly tidy type that people often refer to jokingly. Nao suffers from violent morbid obsessions, while her compulsions take the form of unseen mental rituals.
Nao's life is a continuous seesaw. Her boyfriend dumps her; a toy deal falls through. But she also meets Gregory, an interesting washing-machine repairman, and Ray, an art teacher at the Buddhist Center. She begins to draw and meditate to ease her mind and open her heart and in doing so comes to a big realization: Life isn't black-and-white after all, in fact, it's much more like... brown.
