A Box Set of THREE 33rpm LP Records: GERSHWIN PORGY AND BESS, featuring the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Simon Rattle. It was issued on the Digital Emi label (Direct Metal Mastering) in 1989. The cast includes: Willard White, Cynthia Haymon and Damon Evans. Also featured is the Glyndebourne Chorus (Chorus Master: Craig Rutenberg). Included is a small 130-page booklet containing background notes in English, French and German and libretto in English. German pressing. Catalogue number: EX 165 7 49568 1The records themselves are in overall better than excellent condition, with one light fingernail scratch on Side Six that produces some very soft ticks (hardly noticeable). Otherwise superb sound quality, with NO jumps, crackle or pops.
Minimal to no spindle wear. Labels very clean, no discernible spider marks.
The box is in excellent and sturdy condition with virtually no wear at all. The original inner sleeves are also in excellent condition, with no wear to speak of. The booklet, too, is in excellent (near mint) condition. Overall, this is an excellent item, beautifully performed, with a crystal clear playback and only very soft ticks on Side Six as mentioned.
