First edition, first print hardback of FOOTFALLS IN MEMORY, (Reflections From Solitude) by Terry Waite and published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1995. Flatsigned by the author on the half title page (see picture below).The book is in fine condition (clean two-tone boards and bright gold lettering on spine) with only very minor wear to the dust jacket, which is not price clipped (very light rubbing to edges, very light bumping to corners). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no other inscriptions.
For the first year of Terry Waite's solitary confinement in Beirut he was given nothing to read. During those days not only did he write his autobiography in his head, but he also attempted to remember the books, poems and prayers he had read during his life. Eventually his guards mellowed and he was given books.
